London June 22 (ANI): The UK’s special envoy to Afghanistan, Sir Sherard Cowper-Coles is leaving his post.
“He will take leave over an extended summer break, it is not clear to what role he will return in the autumn,” BBC quoted the Foreign Office as saying.
Sir Sherard has been critical of Nato and US policy and believes that talks with the Taliban should have been given greater priority.
“William Hague, would review the post of special envoy to Afghanistan and how the Afghan dossier was handled,” the report quoted a British Foreign Office source, as saying.
“The British Foreign Minister wanted Sir Sherard to remain in his position,” he added. (ANI)
