Sushil Modi calls off ‘Vishwas Yatra’ with Nitish Kumar

NEW DELHI - Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and senior BJP leader Sushil Modi has called off his tour with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar after the latter returned the Gujarat Government’s Kosi flood relief aid.
The two leaders were supposed to travel to Paliganj as part of the ‘Vishwas Yatra’, a pre-election exercise to showcase the achievements of the Bihar Government in the last five years.
The decision to return the Gujarat money was taken on Saturday after some Bihar papers carried advertisements about help rendered by the Gujarat Government prior to the BJP national executive meeting in Patna on June 12.
Kumar did not appreciate the statement that Gujarat had liberally donated aid to Bihar during the 2008 Kosi floods.
With Assembly elections scheduled later this year, Kumar has made it known that he would not like to be seen with Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, and be associated with any move that could anger Muslim voters. (ANI)
