LAHORE - In an apparent bid to convince the world that his country has no dangerous nuclear aspirations, Iran’s Ambassador to Pakistan Mashallah Shakiri has described nuclear weapons as ‘haram’ (prohibited) according to the laws of Islam.

In an interview to private television channel Shakiri said that Islam has declared all weapons of mass destruction (WMDs) ‘haram’, which include nuclear weapons and the atom bomb.

The UN Security Council has imposed new sanctions on Tehran after the later refused to adhere to the council’s demand to stop its uranium enrichment programme. (ANI)
