Marathon organised to promote Commonwealth Games in Punjab

AMRITSAR - A NGO organised a marathon, ‘Run for Commonwealth Games’, here on Sunday to promote the upcoming event. number of children participated in the event.

“Commonwealth games are taking place in India and people can be really benefited from that. Some of our games that are not known would be promoted, and different countries would be coming to India, which would be a good exposure,” said Muskaan Vij, a participant.

People felt that such events are of great use, as they allow the younger generation to understand the concept of the Games.

“The Commonwealth Games are of great importance because such international-level tournaments take place in India, our younger generation is encouraged,” said Sukhjeet Shami, an international-level hockey player.imilar events would be organised in Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Jammu, Srinagar, Chandigarh, Shimla and Ambala before the games commence in New Delhi.

The Queen’s Baton Relay, which commenced from the Buckingham Palace in England, after its long journey around the globe will enter India on June 25 from Pakistan at the Wagah border.

The preparations for welcoming the baton are on in full swing. (ANI)
