NEW DELHI - With Foreign Secretary talks just days away, Pakistan troops on Sunday violated the ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Machil Sector. Two porters were killed and two Army personnel injured.

According to sources, Pakistani troops opened fire on Indian posts at around 7.30 a.m. without provocation.

This is the second ceasefire violation in a week.

The incident also comes ahead of Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram’s visit to Islamabad for the SAARC Interior Minister’s Conference.

The trip by Foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao and Chidambaram is being seen by the Pakistan establishment as helping to set in motion the dialogue process suspended since the 26/11 attacks.

Foreign Minister S.M. Krishna is scheduled to visit Islamabad on July 15 for talks with his Pakistani counterpart Shah Mahmood Qureshi. (ANI)
