Summary Box: Teen drivers not worst text culprits

SURVEY SAYS: A new study from The Pew Research Center’s Internet & American Life Project says adults are as likely as teenagers to have texted while driving. Adults are more likely to have talked on the phone while driving, too.

WHAT IT MEANS: Mary Madden, a senior research specialist for Pew and lead author of the study, said it shows that adults need to be educated about the dangers of distracted driving, too.

NOT JUST BEHIND THE WHEEL: The survey also found that 17 percent of adults with cell phones said they had walked into people or other things while chatting or texting.
