Suspended Mumbai cop nabbed for threatening builder

THANE - Suspended Mumbai Police officer Ravindra Angre was arrested on Tuesday for threatening a relative of a Thane builder.
According to police, Angre had fired at the brother of Thane builder Mahesh Wagh on Monday, but the latter was escaped unhurt.
In 2008, Wagh had filed an extortion case against Angre.
Police suspect that Angre had opened fire to avenge the builder’s act of filing an extortion complaint against him earlier.
Angre was known as encounter specialist within police ranks.
Angre, was produced before a magistrate’s court here on Tuesday and remanded to police custody till Friday.
Earlier, Angre was arrested on for threatening Wagh and had spent more than 14 months in Thane Central Jail.
He was released on bail in May 2009 on the orders of the Supreme Court.
Angre has killed over 50 gangsters, including the notorious Suresh Manchekar in his 25-year career as an encounter specialist. (ANI)
