Industrial, tech lead stocks higher; Dow up 213
BOEING, PCs LEAD THE MARKET: News that Boeing Co. is raising 737 production gave industrial stocks a kick higher. And an improved 2010 forecast for PC shipments pulled tech stocks up.
WHAT ABOUT EUROPE?: With no bad news out of Europe about countries’ debt problems, investors are back to focusing on signs of strength in the U.S. However, volume was light, a sign that investors are still wary about the European economy and in turn, the world’s.
HOW THE DOW DID: The Dow Jones industrial average rose 213, its third gain in four days. It had its highest close since May 19.
