Five killed as wall of a ‘Madarsa’ collapses in Aurangabad District

AURANGABAD - Five children were killed and seven injured, when a wall of a ‘Madarsa’ collapsed following heavy monsoon rains in Maharashtra’s Aurangabad District on Sunday.
Eyewitnesses said the wall and the roof of the ‘Madarsa’ located in Gangapur village caved in after heavy monsoon rains in the region
“The incident took place at 5 p.m. in the village, which is around 10 kilometers from here. Five children died on the spot, five have been seriously injured and are being treated at the government hospital in Aurangabad,” said Badar Choush, a local community leader.
“Two kids are being treated in the district hospital in Gangapur. Five to seven students were given treatment at the spot,” he added.
Mufti Moh Gani, the head of the ‘Madarsa’ said at the time of the mishap, the students were getting ready for their daily prayers.
“All the people from the village be it Hindus or Muslims came running to the Madarsa after the incident. They tried their best to rescue the kids,” said Gani. (ANI)
