MELBOURNE - A Miami lawyer was banned from meeting her client in jail due to the metal underwire in her bra.

According to The Miami Herald, when lawyer Brittney Horstman removed her bra, she was restricted again because she wasn’t wearing a bra.

Horstman said that security guards at Miami Federal Detention Centre did not allow her to enter because the metal in her underwire bra set off the metal detectors.

Despite rules by the centre making an exception for underwire bras, the guards still refused entry to Horstman.

Horstman was even denied entry when she removed the bra in a bathroom because she was told that going braless was a violation of prison dress code guidelines.

The code prevents women from wearing low-cut blouses or dresses, leotards, sundresses or any type of garment that is see-through or clothing that is tight and sexually suggestive or revealing, reports News.com.au.

The code also wants women to wear bras but it does allow underwire bras as an exception.

“The incident, while regrettable and unfortunate, appears to be an aberration,” News.com.au quoted Michael Caruso, the public defender’s chief assistant, as saying. (ANI)
