Over 600 cadets pass out of Indian Military Academy

DEHRADUN - Over 648 cadets including 23 foreign cadets and 23 cadets of Assam Rifles passed out of the Indian Military Academy (IMA) in Dehradun on Saturday.

Former Army Chief General J J Singh, Governor of Arunachal Pradesh reviewed the parade.

The Sword of Honour, a coveted recognition among the pass out cadets, was awarded to the overall best amongst the pass outs.

“I am very happy because only one person gets this chance,” said Gaurav Hirday, a pass out cadet and recipient of IMA Sword of Honour.

Army helicopters also showered petals on the occasion.

“My will is very strong and my spirit is high. It was my childhood dream to join the army and now that dream has been fulfilled. I want to serve my country with all my heart,” Shiva Gurung, a pass out cadet.

The Passing Out Parade (POP) was witnessed by military and civil dignitaries and family members and friends of the newly commissioned officers. (ANI)
