QUETTA - Members of the Balochistan Provincial Assembly belonging to various minority sects staged a walk-out from the House in protest against the murder of a Hindu trader and kidnapping of his son from Quetta.

Rajesh Kumar, a rice dealer, and his son Hamesh Kumar were attacked by armed assailants near their shop situated on the Maddrasa Road of Satellite Town.

During a scuffle with the attackers Rajesh was shot, while the gunmen fled away with his son.

Later, Rajesh succumbed to his injury in the hospital.

Provincial Minister for Minorities, Jay Prakash, on a point of order, strongly condemned the incident, and criticised the government for its failure to protect minorities, especially the Hindus in Balochistan.

“This is our motherland, our forefathers have rendered sacrifices for it,” The Nation quoted Prakash, as saying.

Later, Prakash, Basant Lal Gulshan and Jaffar George staged a walk out from the House in protest against the murder of the Hindu trader.

Provincial Ministers, Jaffar Khan Mandokhel, Abdul Khaliq Achakzai and other MPAs also condemned the incident, and called for stern action against criminals who have made kidnapping for ransom a ‘business’ in Balochistan. (ANI)
