Goa Greenfield International Airport project gets clearance

NEW DELHI - Union Cabinet on Thursday gave clearance for setting up of a new Greenfield International Airport at Mopa in Goa.
The cabinet also approved for the continuation of commercial operations at Dabolim civil enclave.
The new airport at Mopa will be constructed on a Build-Own-Operate-Transfer (BOOT) basis, for which, a private entity will be selected through a global tendering process.
The Cabinet also decided to grant status of International Airport to the new airport.
The Cabinet also approved the continuation of commercial operations at the existing Dabolim Civil Enclave Airport by reviewing its earlier decision.
Earlier, the Cabinet has decided to close down the Dabolim Airport once the commercial operations start from Mopa.
Continuation of Dabolim Airport at Goa will facilitate the state to meet the requirement of increased inflow of air traffic more efficiently as well as for the balanced development of all parts of the state.(ANI)
