Pakistan students meet Parneet Kaur in New Delhi

NEW DELHI - A delegation of about ten Pakistani students presently in India to attend a cultural convention met Minister of State for External Affairs Parneet Kaur in the national capital on Wednesday.

The students are in India to attend a six-day long national convention of the Society for Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth (Spic Macay) at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur.

During her conversation with the students, Kaur talked about their stay in India and the arts and cultural programme organised by Spic Macay.

“The students have come in a cultural festival in IIT Kanpur and Spic Macay is hosting them. They are here today and tomorrow and then they go back to Amritsar and cross the border back,” said Kaur.

The visiting students said that they wanted that irrespective of the political differences between the two countries, students from both countries should be encouraged to participate in such exchange programmes.

“I think what happens between the governments is you know…that’s one thing by itself, but students should be encouraged to visit each other country and exchange views. We have some very common interests at heart and we have great similarities,” said Sehar, one of the students from Pakistan.

The students also shared their experiences and expressed a desire to visit India again.

“The experience was great.I mean it was the first time that we have been invited to India for this convention SPIC MACAY. It is just great to see how people over here are trying to promote classical music,” said Bilal Malik, a graphic designer from Pakistan.

The Pakistani students also expressed their gratitude to the Ministry of External Affairs for ensuring a safe stay in India. (ANI)
