India, Canada to cooperate in areas of food processing industries: Sahai

NEW DELHI - Minister of Food Processing and Industries Subhodh Kant Sahai on Monday said India and Canada will cooperate in the field of growth and development of technologies for food processing industries.
Speaking at the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Indian Institute of Crop Processing Technology, Thanjavur, and the University of Saskatchewan, Canada, Sahai said: ” Under this programme global educational experience and training to create high quality and competent manpower for the growth of food processing sector in India will be undertaken.”
The MoU calls for exchange of collaborative research, training, curriculum and institutional development and exchange of faculty and students.
Rob Norris, Minister of Education and Law of Saskatchewan, was also present on the occasion.
The MoU was signed by Dr. K. Alagusundaram, Director, Indian Institute of Crop Processing Technology and Dr. Bret Fairbairn, Provost and Vice President Academic, University of Saskatchewan.
Senior officials from the Ministry of Food Processing Industries were also present on the occasion.
The MoU also ensures short-term exchange of faculty, students and staff for the purpose of research sabbaticals and advanced training. It will provide coordination and joint research and development, lectures, training and distance education, academic programmes, study and research. (ANI)
