PANAJI - Goa Chief Minister Digambar Kamat on Saturday informed that the resignation of his Tourism Minister Mickey Pachecoed was forwarded to the State Governor Shivinder Singh Sidhu and has been duly accepted.
“Today, the tourism minister has sent his formal resignation letter which I have recommended to the Governor and he has accepted his resignation,” said Digambar Kamat in provincial capital Panaji.
Earlier, Pacheco had put in his papers in the wake of an investigation by the Crime Branch, in connection with the death of his friend, a 27-year-old woman called Nadia Joelle Torrado.
Pacheco, who was again called by the sleuths on Saturday, remains untraceable. All police stations have been asked to track him down.
The case was sent to Goa Crime Branch after women’s rights groups accused the minister of involvement.
Torrado killed herself on May 30 after consuming poison. (ANI)
