Mangalore crash: Mass funeral for unidentified bodies

MANGALORE - A mass funeral of twelve unidentified victims of Air India Express plane crash was held here on Wednesday.
All the bodies were buried with due respect in the presence of people who had claimed them.
Additional Deputy Commissioner S.A. Prabhakar Sharma said Section 34 of the Disaster Management Act empowers the district administration to decide on the disposal of bodies.
Sharma further said that all departments had coordinated well for the mass funeral.
“All the departments have made a co coordinated effort, to see that this is done smoothly and to the best of our capacity we have done,” he added.
Earlier in the tests done, blood samples of 34 claimants did not match the DNA of any of the victims.
The Air India Express flight from Dubai to Mangalore that crashed while landing at the Mangalore airport on May 22 claimed 158 lives. (ANI)
