Hundreds of verities mangoes were on display in different categories like ‘table’, ‘juicy’, ‘pickle’, ‘hybrid’, ‘coloured’ and ’seasonal’.

Some of the premium qualities of mangoes like Himayat, Mulgo, Alphonso and Malda were also showcased.

“In this mango show, Himayat is the variety which is the costliest variety and… Variety is the smallest variety we have exhibited,” said Bhagwan Rao, a scientist at the Fruit Research Centre.

About 250 kinds of mangoes on display were from Andhra Pradesh itself, along with about 24 varieties from the states of Bihar, West Bengal, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.

“Cost part is that if you see in different regions we have different preference for the mangoes like for example if you see in Taranga Nagar district, there is a variation in the cost, it goes there at premium price and if you see in the coastal district there are choice varieties…these are the varieties which go at premium price,” said Venkateswar Rao, Director of Horticulture Department, Andhra Pradesh.

The show also exhibited mangoes that are not easily cultivable. (ANI)
