NEW DELHI - Over 500 junior doctors, including postgraduate students, interns and junior residents of Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital went on a mass hunger strike on Tuesday to protest against the “lack of basic services”.

They also threatened to boycott Out Patient Department (OPD) services.

A meeting between the junior doctors and the hospital administration on Monday ended inconclusively. The medical superintendent even threatened to rusticate junior doctors.

The students had staged a protest this April by blocking the Ring Road opposite the hospital.

The administration had then promised that their issues would be resolved, but refused to give a deadline. (ANI)
