BATALIK - The Batalik sector in Kashmir, which witnessed an intense battle between Pakistani intruders and the Indian Army during the Kargil conflict in 1999, was opened to tourists on Monday.
To herald the occasion, the state government hosted a three-day tourist festival to attract tourists to the scenic region.
Tourism would generate employment opportunities to the youths of this region.
“This is good thing after many years the tourist spot has opened. It should have happened earlier because this is remote area, a far-flung area; the literacy rate is also low. This will improve education level and people will get employment. There are many girls and boys here they will get employment,” said Sakeena, a resident.
The tourism department is planning to develop infrastructure to make a lasting impression among the visitors.
