Abductors of Sericulture Department official demand Rs. one crore for release

IMPHAL - Abductors of a Farm Overseer (FO) in the State’s Sericulture Department here have demanded rupees one crore for his release.
The abductors have claimed themselves to be cadres of the United Kuki Liberation Army-Military Council (UKLA-MC).
Nameirakpam Nabakumar, 56, was posted at the management office of San-gaipat Sericulture Project. He was abducted on May 20 while he was on his way from home to office.
He had gone out from his Luwangshangbam residence on a motorcycle at about Nabakumar went out from his Luwangshangbam residence on a motorcycle on May 20 at about 10 a.m..
A couple of days later, some people who identified themselves as cadres of UKLA-MC informed the family over telephone that Nabakumar was being held hostage in connection with a monetary demand of Rs 50 lakhs made by the outfit to Sericulture Department.
The abductors, however, have now demandef rupees one crore for his release, as the deadline set for furnishing Rs. 50 lakhs had already expired.
It has been threatened till the money was handed over to them, Nabakumar would not be released. (ANI)
