BANGKOK - Curfew has been lifted in Thailand capital Bangkok and 23 other provinces after Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva received assurances from the security forces that they had regained control following recent riots that left 85 dead in the capital.
The curfew had been in place since May 19.
The Bangkok Post quoted Interior Minister Chavarat Charnvirakul as saying that he was confident that security forces can control the political situation, especially in the four hotspot northeastern provinces of Ubon Ratchathani, Udon Thani, Khon Kaen and Mukdahan.
Meanwhile, Energy Minister Wannarat Channukul has said that energy facilities across the country remain on highest security alert despite the end of curfew. (ANI)
