New York, May 28 (ANI): A teacher in the US, who was voted Teacher of the Year at a Georgia high school, has been forced to resign after she admitted to having a sexual relationship with a student.
According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the 17-year-old Shiloh High School senior revealed on May 27 that English teacher Keenon Aampay Hall, 29, seduced him and the two began a sexual relationship that lasted six months.
The matter came to light only after the student refused to agree to Hall’s demand that he impregnate her, after which he received a failing grade in her class which led him to alert Gwinnett County school officials.
“The allegation of the inappropriate behaviour came to light because the teacher decreased the student’s grade,” the New York Post quoted Gwinnett schools spokeswoman Sloan Roach as saying.
An investigation found the couple had sex at numerous places including hotels and Hall’s classroom during school hours.
Hall, who was voted Shiloh High School Teacher of the Year by her peers last fall, admitted in a statement to the school district the couple had a “consenual relationship,” misspelling the word.
Hall’s mother maintained her daughter did nothing wrong.
“My daughter didn’t have any inappropriate relationship with no under-aged student. She resigned for medical reasons, that’s what her paperwork shows,” she said.
The student has reportedly moved to North Carolina to finish his senior year without being distracted by the repercussions of the affair. (ANI)
