Bangalore, May 28 (ANI): Reacting to the Canadian High Commission denying visa to India’s former and serving security personnel, External Affairs Minister SM Krishna said, ‘this is unacceptable’.
Addressing the mediapersons here on Thursday, Krishna said: “We have conveyed to the Canadian Government that the letter issued by the Canadian High Commission to serving or retired officers of our security forces and the agencies, who had applied for the Canadian visa, are unacceptable”.
He hoped that the Canadian authorities would address the situation soon and appropriately.
“We are proud of our security forces and agencies and service they are rendering to the nation. We expect the Canadian authorities to address the situation appropriately,” Krishna added.
Earlier, the Canadian High Commission in New Delhi had denied visa to Fateh Singh Pandher, a former member of paramilitary Border Security Force (BSF) by contending that this outfit is a ‘violent’ and ‘notorious’ force.
According to media reports, two new such cases have recently emerged.
A former Intelligence Bureau (IB) official was denied visa on the basis that the IB is involved in militant activities.
The Canadian High Commission also denied visa to a former army official, who had served in Jammu and Kashmir. (ANI)
