Summary Box: Financial stocks pull market lower
LATE SLIDE: The Dow Jones industrials ended with a loss of about 127 Monday after sliding 80 points in the final 15 minutes of trading.
EUROPE QUESTIONS: Trading has been volatile for the past month on concerns about debt problems in Europe. The Bank of Spain’s rescue of a Spanish bank brought worries that problems in weaker European Union countries will spread.
BANKS DROP: Bank stocks pulled the market lower after traders grew uneasy about what provisions will remain in a final financial overhaul bill now that a Senate version is being blended with that of the House.
