Chinese provincial court upholds execution for kids’ attacker

NEW DELHI - A court in China’s Jiangsu Province has thrown out an appeal against a death penalty raised by the man who attacked and injured 32 kindergarten pupils and teachers.
According to a Shanghai Daily report the Taizhou Intermediate People’s Court revoked Xu Yuyuan’s appeal.
Xu had appealed against his death sentence on May 15, saying capital punishment was too severe considering no one was killed in his stabbing spree in a kindergarten in Jiangsu’s Taixing City on April 29.
Xu, 47, was unemployed and confessed in the first trial that he was lashing out in anger against society by wielding a knife at preschool children. Twenty-nine children were hurt in the attack, along with three teachers.
Xu’s attack was one of five major assaults against schoolchildren across the country in the past few months that left 17 dead and more than 50 injured. (ANI)
