‘Busty Barbie’ sends the wrong message, complain parents

NEW YORK - A ‘busty’ doll in Mattel’s new Back to Basics Barbie collection has raised some parents’ eyebrows who find the doll too revealing.
The Barbie “Back to Basics” collection is a new range of the good-old Barbie sporting trendy cocktail attire including little black outfits, off-the-shoulder frocks and tiny strapless tops.
However, one doll is grabbing all the eyeballs - No. 10, who’s has quickly earned the nickname “Busty Barbie.”
The African-American doll dons a knee-length black dress with long sleeves and a deep neckline - revealing a huge cleavage.
And some parents are expressing their unhappiness over the doll’s look.
“I don’t want [my daughter] to think she has to be this, you know, busty Barbie who’s constantly wearing heels and these low-cut shirts,” the New York Daily News quoted Minnesota mom Andie Whitaker, as telling NBC’s WPTV.
She added: “And that’s really the image I think a doll that you’re going to buy for a child is portraying.”
A parent wrote to Examiner.com: “I don’t want my baby growing up to think Heidi [Montag] is her role model.”
Mattel has kept mum over the issue. (ANI)
