Air India strike ends, but passengers still stranded

NEW DELHI - Even as the Air India employees called off their strike on Wednesday evening, thousands of air travellers in the national capital had been stranded at the airports till afternoon.
At least 76 international and domestic flights scheduled for Wednesday were cancelled.
Flight cancellations during the peak summer rush, added to the passengers’ woes.
Passengers complained of no boarding arrangements been made for them.
“They are not providing any boarding and neither lodging, nor even bottle water is given to us,” said Mohanjeet Singh, a passenger.
About 14,000 crewmembers and maintenance engineers of Air India across the country were taking part in the strike.
Besides the gag order that was issued after the air crash at Mangalore on Saturday (May 22), non-payment of salaries was another reason for the staff to go on strike. (ANI)
