Nepali cyclist scales Everest, says he felt he was on a picnic

KATHMANDU - Forty-one-year-old Nepali cyclist Puskhar Shah completed a tour of 150 different countries in 11 years by scaling Mt. Qomolangma also known as Mt. Everest on May 17, 2010.

Shah started his world cycle tour in the year 1998 and ended it after travelling to 150 countries.

Talking to Xinhua, he said: “I felt like a picnic while I was on the top of the mountain. I sang a Nepali song while I was on the top of world’s highest mountain, my happiness was limitless and remembered my mom that moment.”

“My dream of 11 years has been fulfilled today and I am feeling I proved myself which I was trying since the past 11 years,” Shah added.

He said it was really hard to rely upon the drops of oxygen they had carried, every drop of oxygen was life to them.

Answering a query about whether or not he ever thought of quitting the expedition, he said that he felt that three times while climbing.

First there was an ice fall and in the camp to there was snow blizzard and third time his fingers were frozen in the fourth camp, he said.

Along with him, there were five other members.

This is a win of my leadership, he exclaimed.

Shah added: “I felt I became the tallest in the whole world, while I was on the top of the mountain.”

Shah also took the flags of 150 different countries and different flags of organizations, including the United Nations. (ANI)
