Mangalore crash: Authorities still looking for ‘Black Box’

MANGALORE - The search for the ‘Black Box’ of the crashed Air India Express Flight is still going on in Mangalore, as investigators believe it could contain vital information on the cause of the blast.

The Black Box records the conversation between ATS and the pilots, which is crucial to the study of the blast.

Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) officials had on Saturday said: “Focus is now on locating the Black Box from the crash site.”

Over 158 people were killed in the crash on Saturday morning. There were only eight survivors.

The plane burst into flames after it overshot the tabletop runway and plunged into the forest below.

Minister of State for Civil Aviation Praful Patel has announced a compensation of Rs 75 lakh to each family of a dead victim. (ANI)
