Japanese coach trains Indian Karate-dokas

Imphal, May 24 (ANI): Nihon Shotokan Pemba Tamang, an 8th Dan an Indian non Japanese Grandmaster, who has been a world champion in 1985 in Karate-Do, recently imparted training to over 70 Karate-Do players here nder the aegis of Department of Youth Affairs and Sports, Manipur Government, the Shotokan Karate Do Federation of India, in association with Amateur Karate Do Association of Manipur, organised the camp.
The training was imparted at the main indoor stadium of Khuman Lampak Sports Complex in Manipur’s Imphal city between May 14 to 15, followed by a national Karate-Do Championship held on May 16 here.
Players from across the country arrived here to attend the two-day camp that began on May 14.
Nihon Shotokan Pemba Tamang, an 8th dan Grand Master, by birth a Nepali hailing from Darjeeling is the only no Japanese who had settled at Japan and has given coaching in Japan as well as in several countries of the world.
During the training session, Pemba Tamang trained the 70 students hailing from different parts of the country, including Arunachal Pradesh, Bhutan, Maharastra, and Bengal, with the modern new techniques, which have been adopted by the world Karate-do federations.
On May 16, a day-long National Karate-Do Championship was conducted where the Manipur Karate-Dokas won most of the Gold Medals and the team Championship. (ANI)
