30 children fall ill after consuming iron pills at a school in Amritsar

AMRITSAR - At least 30 under-teen students developed feelings of nausea after taking iron pills here on Friday.
This incident took place at the Government Senior Secondary School located in the neighbourhood of Hakima Gate in the city.
The young students complained of acute pain in the stomach. Some vomited after taking the pills.
School authorities swung into action and rushed the children to the Civil Hospital.
“We received a message over phone that children have fallen sick in a school at Hakima Gate. We rushed two attendants and an ambulance there. There we saw that some children were feeling nausea and some of them were vomiting. These children were brought here and admitted to hospital,” said Dr. Balwinder Kumar Kakkar, Additional Senior Medical Officer, Civil Hospital, Amritsar.
He said an inquiry is being conducted.
The school administration has been hauled up for negligence and is being held responsible for the incident. (ANI)
