Gaza militants enter Israel, clash with troops
JERUSALEM — Israeli military officials say two Palestinian militants have infiltrated into Israel from the Gaza Strip and have clashed with the soldiers.
The military spokesman’s office confirmed an exchange of fire on Friday between gunmen and soldiers near Israel’s Kissufim crossing with Gaza. It did not say which side of the border the clashes were on.
But other military officials say the gunmen were quickly surrounded by troops after entering Israeli territory.
The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to disclose details of the firefight.
Gaza security officials confirmed two militants had been sent on an operation to attack Israel and clashed with soldiers near the Israel-Gaza border.
