NEW DELHI - Union Home Secretary G.K. Pillai Wednesday reviewed the country’s airport security and discussed enhancement of existing measures, officials said.

Pillai reviewed airports’ security in a meeting with Civil Aviation Secretary M. Madhavan Nambiar and Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) Director General N.R. Das besides other senior officials of the two ministries, said a home ministry release.

It said the meet deliberated upon the issues of providing access to the airport after checking biometric data of the visitors and creating infrastructural facilities in this regard.

The meeting also discussed the issue of erecting watch towers around the airports, raising the perimeter walls, provision of adequate security staff, installation of Closed Circuit Television cameras and deployment of dog squads and bomb disposal squads at airports.

The statement added that a time-bound tentative plan was drawn up at the meeting that would be finalised later.
