NEW DELHI - A large cache of heroin worth millions of rupees has been seized here on Monday.

Acting on a tip off, the police laid a trap in Chandni Chowk area of Old Delhi and managed to arrest two individuals.

“One of the arrested individuals tried to sell the drugs to a customer, who informed us about the consignment. Based on this information we deployed a team at the Hauz Qazi chowk from where we arrested these men,” said Jaspal Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Central District, Delhi.

Singh said that the seizure is worth around Rs. ten million in the international market.

Heroin is derived from morphine, a naturally occurring substance extracted from the seedpod of the Asian poppy plant. Heroin usually appears as a white or brown powder. (ANI)
