Hamas in Gaza says it executed 3 convicted killers
GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip — Gaza’s Hamas rulers say they have executed three convicted killers, carrying out another set of death sentences that have been criticized by rights groups.
A medical official says the bullet-riddled bodies were dumped at a Gaza hospital. He spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of retribution.
Tuesday’s executions were the second official death penalties carried out since Hamas’ 2007 takeover of Gaza. Human rights groups have also accused Hamas security forces of involvement in extrajudicial killings, including of suspected collaborators with Israel.
The Gaza Interior Ministry described the men executed as convicted killers but gave no details.
In April, Hamas executed two men accused of collaborating with Israel.
