Senior citizen killed in Mumbai fire

MUMBAI - A 65-year-old lady has succumbed to her burn injuries after a fire broke out on the 15th floor of Presidency Tower in the Ghatkopar region here on Sunday evening.
Eight fire engines, six water tankers, two ambulances and four high-ladder vehicles were rushed to the spot to bring the situation under control.
The woman, Lata Duggad, suffered critical burn injuries in the fire that broke out around 4: 39 p.m. and was admitted to the nearby Rajawadi hospital.
“The fire broke out at flat no. 1501. These are residential flats. A 60-year-old lady staying there received burn injuries. Her body has been sent to Rajawadi. The flat caught fire at around 16.39 hours. Eight fire engines and four water tankers were rushed to the spot immediately,” said A. N. Shinde, fire official.
“The reason we can’t tell. The investigations would be done by the investigation officer and then we will come to know about the reason,” he added.
No further casualties were reported in the incident. The exact cause of the fire is yet unknown. (ANI)
