Delhi Police seize heroin worth millions of rupees

New Delhi, May 17 (ANI): Delhi Police of Monday seized a large cache of heroin, believed to be worth millions of rupees, in the capital from two persons.
Acting on an information, the police laid a trap in Chandni Chowk area of Old Delhi and managed to arrest two individuals.
“One of the arrested individuals tried to sell the drugs to a customer, who informed us about the consignment. Based on this information we deployed a team at the Hauz Qazi chowk from where we arrested these men,” said Jaspal Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Central District, Delhi.
Singh said that the seizure is worth around Rs. 10 million in the international market.
“This is a big seizure because a large amount of heroin has been recovered. We are now searching for one Simon, who had supplied the drugs to the arrested individuals,” he added.
Heroin is derived from morphine, a naturally occurring substance extracted from the seedpod of the Asian poppy plant. Heroin usually appears as a white or brown powder. (ANI)
