Farooq Abdullah visits Hydro Plants at Athwathoo in Kashmir

SRINAGAR - Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Dr. Farooq Abdullah, today visited 7.5 MW small hydro project at Athwathoo in Jammu and Kashmir.

This is one of the ten small hydro projects in the State allotted to private developers. This project was commissioned in July, 2009.

He also paid a short visit to 15 MW Ganderbal small hydro project.

Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has sanctioned Rs. ten crores for renovation and modernization of this plant.

Dr. Farooq Abdullah told the State Government to take early action for completion of the project so that power generated can be utilized for electricity needs of the district and nearby areas.

He also inaugurated a 8.8 KW solar wind hybrid plant at SDH Ganderbal. This is one of the five solar wind hybrid projects sanctioned by MNRE to the State of Jammu and Kashmir. The project will generate 6.6 KW power from wind energy, 2.2 KW from solar photovoltaics. (ANI)
