Melbourne, May 13 (ANI): A dentist in New Zealand has been found guilty of making a female patient touch his private parts after putting her on sedative.

In his defence, the dentist claimed the sedative caused sexual hallucinations in his patient, according to News.com.au.

However, the Dentists Disciplinary Tribunal dismissed his claim in the 2001 case.

The tribunal said the woman involved was a “credible witness”, while the dentist’s evidence was “less compelling”.

The South Island dentist is still practising and has interim name suppression until the tribunal decides on the penalties to impose, reports The Press.

New Zealand Dental Association chief executive David Crum said the case was “extremely unusual” and there were “good reasons” for the man’s name suppression to be sustained.

The tribunal can stop the dentist from practising and impose a fine of up to NZ5000 dollars. (ANI)
