PUNE, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)-IRCTC (Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Limited) Indian Railway witnessed heavy complains from 26 passengers of Nizamuddin-Pune Duronto express. Reportedly, the passengers submitted a written complaint to IRCTC Indian Railway as they starved all the way in their journey on May 3 owing to the fact that the food that was offered in the train was stale and inedible.

The passengers also complained to Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Limited that the Railway officials who operated the journey refused to stop the train so as to give a chance to the passengers to purchase food from outside. The Duronto Express only takes four necessary stops so as to mend or keep a track on any technical glitches that the train might go through in its long hours of journey. The passengers allegedly complained that when all of them received their food packets in the G1 coach they noticed that the packets were not packed properly. On opening the packets, the food was smelling stale and turned out to be inedible.

Sunil Kamthan who happens to be the area manager of IRCTC Indian Railway Pune told the media that the department has accepted all complaints coming form the passengers and they will definitely look into the matter. He also said that the complaints shall be forwarded to IRCTC Indian Railway in Delhi because the source of the so called “Stale” food was offered from Delhi Railway. The area manager also said that if the IRCTC Indian Railway finds the caterer guilty of the charge then his license will be canceled and he will have to pay a heavy penalty.
