MALIHABAD - A cultivator in Uttar Pradesh’s Malihabad District has named a new kind of mango after ace cricketer Sachin Tendulkar.
Haji Kalimullah, who recently won a ‘Padma Sri’ for growing more than 300 varieties of mangoes of different shapes, sizes and hues on one tree, has developed a new hybrid mango that is a cross between the “Gudshah” and “Chausa” varieties.
Khan said that the way Sachin made his name in the world, his mango would gain fame similarly.
“There are so many types of mangoes but this mango is unique and the shape of this mango is also very unique. Sachin (Tendulkar) is also unique in the whole world. So, my wish is to make this mango unique in the world and get linked to Sachin,” said Khan. The name itself has turned to be a big crowd-puller and many people have already purchased the new variety.
“I have seen many mangoes in Malihabad but this type of mango, I have never seen,” said Mohammad Athar, a mango lover.
Khan also expressed his desire to sent his new creation to Sachin Tendulkar in Mumbai, and fulfill his dream of meeting him. (ANI)
