MUMBAI - Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray made a public appearance on Friday evening after a break of nearly two years at a function at Shivaji Park here to mark the golden jubilee of the formation of Maharashtra.

Talking to reporters, Thackeray said that he had grown old and tired.

“Well, these very hands at one time were artistic, sketching and caricaturing. And the same hands later raised and shook the society for a cause… And today unfortunately these very hands tremble. Often I am unable to even sign. But, all happened for the good, as evident here that you can see,” he added.

Many party workers were present at the function held at the sprawling grounds of Shivaji Park.

He was later taken around in an open vehicle to inaugurate and view a painting exhibition organised on the occasion.

The last time he was seen at a public function was during the 2008 annual Dussehra rally of the party at the same venue. (ANI)
