Centre pays Rs 28.5 lakh each to 74 CRPF men killed in Dantewada

NEW DELHI - Union Home Secretary G K Pillai on Friday said that families of the 74 CRPF personnel killed in the Dantewada naxal ambush have been paid Rs. 28.5 lakh each.

Presenting the monthly report card of the Home Ministry, Pillai said each next of kin (NOK) of the deceased CRPF personnel is entitled to receive, ex-gratia from the Central Government Rs 15 lakh, the CPRF Risk Fund Rs10 lakh, the CRPF Central Welfare Fund Rs 50,000, ex-gratia from Chhattisgarh State Government Rs 3 lakh, GPAIS from State Government Insurance Scheme Rs. 10 lakh.

Pillai said the Rs. 10 lakh insurance amount (GPAIS) due from the Chhattisgarh Government’s Insurance Scheme is yet to be paid by the insurer.

He said the matter is being followed up for early payment.

Pillai said the CRPF has issued appointment offer to 22 NoKs and added that 39 NoKs have requested delayed compassionate appointments, for them letters of comfort issued that their compassionate appointment would be issued when their wards become eligible.

He also added that the Ministry is considering the requests of appointment for ineligible relatives. Eight Noks requested for appointment to ineligible relatives and six Noks are not yet illing for any appointment. (ANI)
