Afghanistan foreign minister arrives in New Delhi

NEW DELHI - Afghanistan’s Foreign Minister Zalmay Rassoul arrived here this morning for a two-day long visit.

During his visit Rassoul would hold a series of meetings with his Indian counterpart S M Krishna and other senior officials.

Rassoul is visiting India on his way to Bhutan.

Krishna would be hosting a dinner for Rassoul this evening.

Rassoul’s visit paves the way for the visit of Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai to New Delhi.

Karzai, will stop at New Delhi for two days on his way to Bhutan to attend the 16th South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) Summit.

Karzai is expected to arrive in New Delhi on Monday.

The External Affairs Ministry has said in a statement that Afghanistan President’s visit would strengthen the “strategic partnership” between the two nations.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and President Karzai would also hold one to one as well as delegation-level talks. (ANI)
