International Disaster Prevention Program organised in Gujarat

AHMEDABAD - Shree Swaminarayan Gadi Sansthan, a social and cultural organisation, organised a two-day workshop called International Disaster Prevention Program in Ahmedabad’s Gujarat city on Friday.
The two-day workshop will witness demonstrations, mock drills and mock rescue operations performed by teams’ from different countries.
“There are some disasters that we can prevent, but we cannot prevent any natural disaster. Therefore, it is better to be prepared to face it,” said National Disaster Response Force 6th Battalion Assistant Commandant Anand Singh.
“In situation, where we have education, development, every kind of technology, and equipment, decrease in damage to property and life is possible. India is working hard at it,” he added.
Singh further said the eight battalions of NDRF are working all over India to create awareness amongst people and train them.
“Such initiatives are a great way of collaborating with the neighbouring countries and would be helpful in the times of any disaster,” claimed the other participants.
Though all the South Asian Association for Regional Co-operation (SAARC) countries were invited for this workshop. Only Bhutan, India and Nepal could participate.
The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), which was formed in the wake of the Disaster Management Act 2005, also participated in the International Disaster Prevention Program. (ANI)
