PURI - Renowned sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik created a sand sculpture to deliver a global appeal to ‘Go Green to Save Earth’ at Puri beach.

“We like to create awareness among people about the effects of climate change to help avoid those effects, and that is why we want to spread the message of ‘Go Green Save Earth’. We want to spread the message to people to plant more trees and awareness can be created about it. As it is, you know that at present there is highest temperature in Orissa,” Pattnaik told reporters.

The six-feet-high sculpture was created by using five tonnes of sand on which he has shown a burning globe, many trunks and a green lady giving the messages ‘Go Green, Save Earth’, ‘Save Water, ‘Plant trees’.

Visitors at the beach were impressed with the sculpture and felt is a good means to spread the message.

“This is a beautiful way of communicating with the common people on the depicts. What is happening because of deforestation, the temperature going up.,” said Ashok Kumar, a visitor.

Orissa is one of the States where temperatures reaches as high as 44 degrees celsius. (ANI)
