Summary Box: Metals fall as investors pare risk
METALS RETREAT: Metals and energy prices fell nearly across the board Friday after investors cut back their exposure to risk.
GOLDMAN CHARGES: Federal regulators filed civil fraud charges against Goldman Sachs, which led investors to cut their positions in riskier assets in favor of safe-haven assets like Treasurys.
DOLLAR CLIMBS: The dollar was a big beneficiary of the commodities pullback, especially the drop in gold. The ICE Futures US dollar index rose 0.5 percent.
