Malaysian state sets aside RM 20 m for Tamil schools

KUALA LUMPUR - The Malaysian state of Selangor state has reportedly set aside RM 20 million for the development of the 97 Tamil schools over the next five years.

The Star quoted Executive Councilor Dr Xavier Jayakumar, as saying that 12 new kindergartens would also be built within the Tamil schools this year.

He said the state granted RM 4million to the Tamil schools with about RM 522, 000 distributed through the parent-teacher associations.

He said that last year, 15 new kindergartens were built in 10 Tamil schools.

Dr Jayakumar said a site had also been identified in Taman Sentosa, Klang, to build another Tamil school. (ANI)
