Unified commanders’ conference starts Friday

NEW DELHI - A two-day unified commanders’ conference will begin Friday to deliberate on measures to hasten the pace of integration and cooperation among the three armed forces.

Defence Minister A.K. Antony would inaugurate the conference, whose overall theme is “Victory through Jointness”.

“The conference will deliberate upon various issues, including the aspects that are required to hasten the pace of integration and strengthening of existing structures. It will also discuss the key achievements and progress made by headquarters, integrated defence staff (HQ IDS),” a defence ministry spokesman said.

Air Force chief Air Chief Marshal P.V. Naik, Army chief General V.K. Singh and Navy chief Admiral Nirmal Verma will address the conference.

Heads of various tri-services training institutions like Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, College of Defence Management, Secunderabad and National Defence Academy, Pune and senior officers from the ministry of defence and the three services will attend the conference.
